Claims that deprived areas of England will lose out to affluent parts of the country under health spending reforms have been rejected by the government.
Health secretary Andrew Lansley said Labourâs figures suggesting less well-off areas like Liverpool would lose out to the Home Counties were âmisleadingâ.
Labour highlighted figures suggesting Manchester will suffer cuts of £42million, or four per cent, with Liverpool down 3.5 per cent, or £33million.
In contrast, they highlighted an extra £61million for Surrey and another £52million for Hampshire, according to a leaked document for the MPsâ health committee.
